Jon Walsh
Jon Walsh is the vocalist and lead guitarist in his own band – The Jon Walsh Blues Dogs, which enjoys a reputation as being one of the most talented real blues bands on the UK Blues circuit. But Jon is also an exceptional solo acoustic/slide guitarist and singer.
Jon’s style covers a broad spectrum of acoustic blues ranging from delta slide on Dobro and National guitars and Atlanta slide on twelve-string guitar, through to folk, country, Piedmont, Gospel and contemporary blues picked on six string flat tops. Jon’s singing style can be passionate, emotive and aggressive at times but can also be soul-searching and introspective.
Jon feels that it is a bluesman’s obligation to keep the blues alive by performing the classics of days gone by and also to keep adding to the blues by contributing new songs to the genre. So, his set will include a number of self-penned songs, which are in many ways personal in that they often tell of his own feelings and experiences.
When asked about his influences Jon sited Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, Tampa Red and Son House .… an awesome combination!
